New apartments planned in Sacramento’s Robla neighborhood

Thirty-nine new apartments in Sacramento’s Robla neighborhood isn’t a lot, but it’s more than anyone’s built in that area in recent years.

A new proposal for 5240 Rio Linda Blvd. would result in a three-story project of 39 market-rate apartments, under the name Robla Apartments.

They’d like to move right away, pending review for city entitlements,” said Michael Robertson, the project’s engineer with Baker-Williams Engineering Group in Carmichael.

According to the application, the apartments would be on the southernmost of two parcels at that address, which is bare land now. All apartments would have two bedrooms, ranging from 692 to 884 square feet. Resident amenities would include a clubroom on the first floor and covered parking.

Robertson said the property is zoned for commercial use, but the irregular shape makes apartments the most suitable project for it.

“It is a project they’re excited about because of the proximity to the bike trail,” Robertson said, adding city planners will like the project because it would bring housing density to the Robla area.
